Windows Vista users will encounter one of two scenarios:

- Customers who have installed McAfee Total Protection software onto their Windows Vista machine and whose software has been kept up to date will be able to upgrade to Windows 7 without any problems to their McAfee product. Customers will continue to be protected.
- Customers who have installed McAfee Total Protection software onto their Windows Vista machine but whose software has not been updated to the latest version will be blocked from upgrading their system when initiating the Windows 7 upgrade process. Customers will be prompted to visit the McAfee website in order to download and install a Windows 7 compatible version of McAfee® Total Protection software. After customers have successfully installed the latest McAfee version they can continue upgrading their operating system.
Windows 7 users who have a fresh installation of the Windows 7 operating system will insert their McAfee® Total Protection CD-ROM to begin installation. During installation, customers will be prompted to visit the McAfee website in order to download and install a Windows 7 compatible version of McAfee® Total Protection software. After customers have successfully installed the latest McAfee version, no further action is required.
